As a little girl, who grew up in a big family, I always saw my family having parties and other events at home, like Christmas diners or parties, birthday parties, weddings and funerals. Having a big family can be useful especially when you have to organize a birthday party or a wedding. Growing up in that time my late grandmother was the event planner and her children were her subordinates. She would plan everything and also coordinate from start to finish. That is were my love for event planning came from. Every event or party would be different and fun and memorable. Until now we still talk about the stories of these events.
In the years that followed I started to help plan and decorate for family members. Also in church when there would be an event I would always volunteer. In the year 2016 I officially started GiGI’s Event planning. It all started with my mom’s wedding. Together with my brother, my uncle and my two younger sisters we put together her wedding after we couped her wedding, because we taught that things would turn out disastrous because she had under estimated certain factors. My mom and her husband had a beautiful wedding and they were moved to tears, because it was more than they had expected.
With the covid pandemic came new challenges and opportunities. One of the opportunities we saw was online event planning. In June 2021 we started collaborating with Nicole Joseph-Chin of Ms.Brafit. Our first online event together was the “Breast Tour” from June 28th till June 30th.
Event planning is for me more than just an event. It is creating beautiful and lasting memories for those involved. Giving them a moment of elegance and the feeling of being special that will last for a life time.
